Dr. Theresa Smith earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from James Madison University in 2009, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University in 2016. After completing a rotating internship that provided her the opportunity to explore various specialties and sparked her passion for emergency and critical care medicine, she pursued a residency in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists, completing it in 2020.

Dr. Smith is recognized for her compassion, dedication, and commitment to her patients and clients. She advocates for her patients, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach to care.

Dr. Smith’s professional interests vary widely and include transfusion medicine, polytrauma management, and the treatment of complicated diabetic ketoacidosis.

Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys fishing, beach outings, boating, jet skiing, and traveling. She shares her home with her pets: Dewey, a 15-year-old domestic shorthair cat, and two mixed-breed dogs, Donnie and Johnny.
