Dr. Parra is a board-certified veterinarian specializing in emergency and critical care medicine. He currently serves as the Medical Director and Critical Care veterinarian at FVRC.

Dr. Parra received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995 and went on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine in 1996. Dr. Parra completed his residency in emergency and critical care medicine at Veterinary Emergency Services in Fresno, California in 2001. In 2006, Dr. Parra and his family relocated to Southwest Florida, where he established Florida Veterinary Referral Center (FVRC), one of the area’s first 24-hour emergency and specialty hospitals.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Parra has shared his knowledge by lecturing at professional meetings and contributing to publications in respected journals such as the “Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care” and “Compendium: Continuing Education for Veterinarians.” His clinical interests encompass pulmonary diseases and ventilator support, trauma surgery, and fluid therapy.
