Internal Medicine Department
The Internal Medicine department at Florida Veterinary Referral Center (FVRC) provides specialized veterinary care for companion animals in the areas of:- Gastrointestinal disease
- Infectious disease
- Respiratory disease
- Urologic disease
- Immune mediated and Hematologic disease
- Endocrine disease
- Musculoskeletal and Neurologic disease
- Cancer treatment and diagnosis
The Internal Medicine Department works co-operatively with other specialty services within FVRC to include Emergency and Critical Care medicine, Surgery, Radiology, and Oncology. A team approach to disease processes gives us the ability to provide comprehensive specialty care to our patients in a state of the art facility.

INTERNAL MEDICINE ULTRASOUND:
Non-emergent ultrasound appointments are available Monday through Friday on an outpatient basis. Procedures requiring anesthesia will be scheduled separately from the appointment.
- Bone marrow aspirates and biopsy
- Cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy
- Blood and plasma transfusions
- Blood testing for endocrine, infectious and autoimmune diseases
- Feeding tube placement: esophagostomy, gastric feeding tubes, and small intestinal tubes.

INTERNAL MEDICINE ULTRASOUND:

Service includes:
Pets scheduled for ultrasound should be fasted for 12 hours before their appointment.
Diabetic patients, patients under 5 pounds, or less than 4 months of age should consult with their veterinarian regarding specific fasting recommendations prior to their appointment.
- Interpretation of the ultrasound by a specialist.
- Written evaluation, with recommendations provided to your primary veterinarian.
Pets scheduled for ultrasound should be fasted for 12 hours before their appointment.
